Lorraine Fredette is a Winnipeger who started taking art classes in her teens before moving to California for 10 years. Back in Manitoba, Lorraine raised her family and participated in many arts and crafts to continue her artistic interests. Lorraine has returned to her first love, acrylic painting ,upon her retirement in 2008.
Lorraine participated in a Watercolor workshop given by Bill Shoop at
the Fort Rouge Leisure Center and this re-awakened her need to create.
Lorraine then followed an acrylic painting course at the Art Forum with David Cooper.
Lorraine then showed 3 or her paintings in the Art Forum art Show.
Lorraine has taken workshops with Yisa Akinbolaji, Wendy Kroeker, Antony Steffes, Cindy Davidson, Charmaine Watts ,Carleigh Duncan-Doyle, Kathy Hookham and Pipi Johnson.
During the winter of 2016 Lorraine had the opportunity to study in Montreal with artist Valerie Gruia working on different techniques.
Lorraine has a booth at the Skinners Market in Lockport during the summer since 2012 where she has met a lot of fine people who were very encouraging.
Lorraine also had a booth at the Lockport Dam Family Festival, The Snowflake Festival in Selkirk and the Valley Garden Christmas sale in 2012 and at the Pine Ridge Hollow Farmers Market since 2014.
Lorraine is a member of The Local Colour Art Group and has participated in their semi-annual art shows for the past few years and was a member of the Board of Directors, External Exhibits coordinator.
